‘Freakier Friday’ popcorn bucket / drink cup ‘switcheroo’ brings movie fun to life
Movie fans can purchase the “Freakier Friday” popcorn bucket and drink cup collectibles at Marcus Theatres, along with “Swapcorn” at Regal.

Disney movie fans should mark their calendar. On Aug. 8, 2025, Disney is bringing the body‑swap fun of “Freakier Friday” to cinemas. Additionally, at some movie theaters, the swap involves the popcorn and soda. In a playful twist inspired by the film itself, Marcus Theatres is offering limited‑edition “Switch Collectibles”: a popcorn bucket shaped like a soda cup and a drink cup masquerading as a popcorn bucket.
‘Freakier Friday’ popcorn bucket: The body‑swap snack

Much like the family swapping bodies in the film’s plot, these clever containers swap their appearances. The Switcheroo Popcorn Bucket masquerades as a traditional drink cup, complete with a plastic straw and a screw-on black lid. When guests remove the lid, they find an 85-oz popcorn bin.
Conversely, the Fake-Out Drink Cup is a 32-oz drink tumbler designed to resemble a popcorn bucket. It is crowned with realistic molded “popcorn” and fitted with a bright yellow straw.

These collectible snacks roll out at Marcus Theatres (also known as Movie Tavern), a chain spanning multiple states in the U.S. Fans interested in grabbing these novelty drink and popcorn containers have some options, including purchasing online.
In person on Aug. 6 at Marcus Theatres, Fan First screenings will take place, allowing guests to purchase these. Starting Aug. 8, the popcorn and drink containers will be available for purchase by all movie-goers. Guests can expect to pay approximately $23 for the large popcorn bucket and $19 for the faux-popcorn drink cup.
These aren’t the first novelty popcorn or drink vessels hitting theaters. However, the “Freakier Friday” collection stands out for its twist, not just themed around the film, but personifying it. With bold colors of purple and green and silhouetted images of Lindsay Lohan’s Anna and Jamie Lee Curtis’ Tess, the containers echo the film’s quirky, neon‑tinged aesthetic.
‘Freakier Friday’ ‘Swapcorn’ at Regal

Regal Cinemas is rolling out their own “Freakier Friday” offer, the Swapcorn bucket. This is an actual two‑flavor popcorn bin (butter paired with caramel). Though this bucket is not swappable in form like the Marcus Theatre options, it offers double the popcorn snack satisfaction. Additionally, Regal Rewards members also earn bonus loyalty points, in conjunction with the movie, from August 8–24.
