Hollywood auction offers starships, costumes, and artwork from Star Wars, Star Trek, and more
Starships, costumes, and original artwork from the Star Wars and Star Trek franchises will hit the block in a Hollywood auction on July 25-26, 2024, including Princess Leia’s iconic gold bikini from “Return of the Jedi.”

In addition to Star Wars and Star Trek items, the nearly 600 lots in the upcoming Heritage Auctions Hollywood/Entertainment Signature Auction includes items from films that influenced and were inspired by the blockbuster franchises.

“As Heritage has done time and again, we’re bringing together some of the most important cultural artifacts that have never before been in single place,” says Heritage Auctions Executive Vice President Joe Maddalena. “When you do that, you immediately, instinctively recognize the importance and influence of these science-fiction films and television shows — how they’ve shaped how we look at and think about the world and beyond.”
Hollywood Auction Highlights From The Star Wars Franchise
Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia production-made resin and urethane bikini costume from “Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi” (Lot #89354; Current Bid: $30,000)
Screen-matched hero “Gold Leader”/”TIE Killer” Y-wing starfighter filming miniature with lights from “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope” (Lot #89348; Starting Bid: $300,000). This miniature of Gold Leader Jon “Dutch” Vander’s “TIE Killer” (named for the TIE fighter painted on its nose) is particularly noteworthy because it’s one of only two hero models made for the film.
“George [Lucas] wanted the Y-wing to be like a World War II TBF Torpedo Bomber, which had a gunner in the belly, facing back to cover the tail, and on top behind the pilot, and then the pilot facing forward,” says modelmaker Colin Cantwell in The Making of Star Wars. “So, the Y-wing could have that kind of interaction between three people on it.”

Hollywood Auction Highlights From The Star Trek Franchise
“Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” production-made USS Defiant/USS Enterprise miniature with working lights and engines (Lot #89276; Starting Bid: $20,000). The outer hull of this miniature was crafted as the USS Defiant during pre-production for a “Deep Space Nine” episode that was never produced. The ship was later transformed into the USS Enterprise as the original series-era Defiant and Enterprise share the same hull.

“Star Trek: Voyager” hero USS Excelsior filming miniature from the episode titled “Flashback” (Lot #89324; Starting Bid: $40,000). The classic Season 3 episode celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Star Trek ties into the events of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country and sees the return of George Takei as “Captain Sulu” of the USS Excelsior. This hero miniature was created specifically for this episode, as the larger Excelsior model had been modified to become the Enterprise-B.

“Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home” final movie poster artwork by Bob Peak (LOT #89291; Current Bid: $28,000). Original mixed media poster artwork for the Leonard Nimoy-directed fourth Star Trek film featuring the original television series crew and signed by Peak at lower left.

Other Notable Items Up For Auction

“2001: A Space Odyssey” early production script by Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke (LOT #89234; Current Bid: $10,000). This screenplay contains pink, green, and blue revision pages dated April 10, 1965, through Dec. 14, 1965. The script is attributed to the actor William Sylvester, who played Dr. Heywood R. Floyd (his lines are circled or underlined).
“Blade Runner” final movie poster (Lot #89376; Current Bid: $30,000). Renowned movie poster artist John Alvin combined the style of Film Noir artwork with director Ridley Scott’s futuristic vision to create the image for the influential sci-fi film. The concept art features ink gouache on artist’s board with watercolors, hand-stenciling, and graphite detailing with airbrushing. Alvin signed the painting with his artist’s imprint/initial in the middle right of the frame.
Fun Fact: Alvin also created posters for “E.T.,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin,” “Hook,” The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and the Harry Potter movies.
“Firefly” original Serenity spaceship and shuttle production maquettes (Lot #89269; Starting Bid: $6,000). The maquette was created as a visualization of the computer-generated “Firefly-Class” spaceship. A Certificate of Authenticity from Karl Derrick, co-author of “Firefly: The Official Companion,” states, “This is the only physical model of the TV Serenity ever made. Used by the production to plan Vis FX shots.”

“Thor: The Dark World” hero Mjölnir hammer (Lot #89523; Current Bid: $17,500). The original square-headed war hammer is wielded by Thor (Chris Hemsworth) throughout the film.
“The Mandalorian” hero helmet (Lot #89355; Starting Bid: $20,000). Original Din Djarin/The Mandalorian helmet constructed of fiberglass resin and smoked Perspex and painted to appear as the rare Beskar steel from Mandalore. This helmet was worn by Pedro Pascal in Season 1 of the series (lot includes pre-production costume reference photos).
