How much was Indiana Jones’ whip at Treasures of Planet Hollywood auction?

Last month, we offered a peek at some of the iconic props and costumes on the block at the Treasures of Planet Hollywood auction, and now we know the top lots were the whip from “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” the bowling ball from “Kingpin,” and the famous wood panel (not a door) from “Titanic.”

With a total sales of $15.68 million, the historic Heritage Auctions event is one of the most successful auctions of movie props and costumes, second only to the $22.8 million Debbie Reynolds auction held in 2011.

“The extraordinary success of this auction proves what I’ve known all along,” said Heritage Executive VP Joe Maddalena. “The interest in and appetite for modern movie props and costumes – all of which were once displayed in Planet Hollywoods worldwide or part of their legendary archives – is profound, deep, and insatiable.”

How Much Did They Cost?

Bill Murray’s red-rode bowling ball from “Kingpin” cost one lucky bidder $350,000, making it the most valuable bowling ball in the world.

As expected, the whip wielded by 2024 Disney Legend Harrison Ford in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” sold for $525,000, earning it the status of the franchise’s most valuable costume or prop (the previous Indiana Jones record was $500,000 set in 2021 for a fedora from “Raiders of the Lost Ark”).

In the top spot (also as expected) is the wood panel that saved Rose (but unfortunately not Jack) from perishing in “Titanic” brought in a whopping $718,750.

The pricey prop was purchased by The Titanic Museum Attraction (with locations in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. and Branson, Mo.)

“Being able to obtain this highly-treasured prop used in the Titanic movie is a monumental acquisition for our attraction,” said Titanic Museum Attractions President Mary Kellogg-Joslyn. “It’s such an iconic part of the film’s history and popularity, and it will give fans of the movie a unique glimpse into this spectacular film. Adding this piece of memorabilia to our collection of Titanic artifacts will allow our guests to see this one-of-a-kind piece of movie history and we are solidifying plans for how best to display it in both of our locations in the future.”
