Jurassic World VelociCoaster soft opens at Universal’s Islands of Adventure
After a handful of previews for team members and annual passholders, a new apex predator is on the prowl. Jurassic World VelociCoaster has officially soft-opened to guests at Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

When an attraction is soft-opening, or in technical rehearsals, it can close at any time and the opportunity to ride is never guaranteed.

This period prior to an attraction’s official opening is a chance for team members to work out all the “kinks,” and make sure that employees are well-trained in order to handle the ride in regular, daily operation. As such, not all aspects or effects on the attraction may be working.

Those lucky enough to be in the park during technical rehearsals will get a chance to experience this exciting new roller coaster before it officially opens on June 10. You can read some of the reactions from team members during previews here.

I thought it was Amazing! I rode it a couple of times over the weekend and experienced minimal wait times. The theming is great and it is helpful to go through the whole cue. The locker system is an amazing new concept that helps to eliminate the bottleneck that often occurs at other similar rides. The coaster is fast and pretty smooth. The lap bar holds you in place during the exciting twists and turns, though you do find yourself floating out of your seat for much of the ride. I would definitely recommend trying to ride it before it is open to the public to avoid the long waits. It is Awesome!
