The Muppets’ Broadway debut closing two months early
The Muppets’ Broadway show with illusionist Rob Lake will close this November instead of the planed January 2026.

The Muppets got evicted from their home for the second time this year.
Back in August, we told you about The Muppets making their Broadway debut this fall with magician Rob Lake. After 20 preview performances and four shows after that, the production is set to close a whole two months early, on Nov. 16, 2025.

While the news reported on Broadway site Playbill.com said nothing about why the decision was made to close the show on Nov. 16, 2025, instead of Jan. 18, 2026, there are many theories from fans online. Since the first previews, fans online were quick to point out just how little The Muppets are in the show. It seems using the well-beloved characters as a tagline to get audiences in the door didn’t work out in the way the production might have hoped.
If you’re a Muppets super fan and want to see The Muppets in their first and hopefully not last production on Broadway at the Broadhurst theatre, tickets range from $49–$99 on the show’s official website.
For Orlando locals or those visiting Walt Disney World during the holiday season, Kermit and Miss Piggy star in the “Holidays in Hollywood” during Disney Jollywood Nights, an after-hours event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (a delightful show that’s been significantly more well received than their attempt at Broadway.

The Broadway show closing is likely not an indicator in a decline of interest in The Muppets! Broadway shows have been closing left and right this year due to poor reception and low attendance. It just so happens that Rob Lake’s magic show is the most recent casualty.
2026 and beyond is set to be huge for The Muppets. Next year, the characters will star in a revival special of “The Muppet Show” on Disney+ with special guest Sabrina Carpenter. Next summer, The Muppets will be permanently taking over the highly popular Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Not to mention recent reports of a Miss Piggy movie in the works with Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone producing and Cole Escola (playwright for Tony nominated play “Oh, Mary!”) writing the script.
