This new ‘Avatar’ experience lets you explore Pandora without a theme park ride

Niagara Falls is getting its own piece of Pandora in 2027, and visitors won’t need a Disney World ticket or a theme park ride to experience it.

“Avatar: Guardians of Eywa,” a new immersive theatrical production developed in collaboration with Disney Theatrical Group and James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment, will bring the world of the Na’vi to life through multisensory environments and live acrobatics beginning May 17, 2027.

The approximately hour-long experience will take guests through environments inspired by Pandora’s rainforest and coastal reef before a live acrobatic performance. Its world premiere will take place at Table Rock Centre in Niagara Falls, Ontario, with performances scheduled through early September 2027.

Early renderings show a colorful, rainforest setting

Several renderings are visible on the waitlist webpage, showing a visually stunning atmosphere. Several blue Na’vi-inspired performers occupy a lush rainforest stage. One performer is suspended upside down high above the others, while another appears elevated on the shoulders of a fellow performer. Large branches, hanging vegetation and blue-green lighting fill the background.

Another concept rendering depicts a Na’vi-inspired acrobat balancing inside a glowing circular apparatus, surrounded by cascading strands illuminated in shades of purple and pink. Audience members appear just beyond the performance area, suggesting a more intimate theatrical setting than a traditional large-scale arena production.

“We are thrilled to help bring this one-of-a-kind experience to life, combining beautiful multimedia environments with live acrobatics.”

How ‘Avatar: Guardians of Eywa’ differs from Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Unlike ‘Pandora – The World of Avatar’ at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the Niagara Falls production will not require guests to enter a theme park or board a ride to experience its interpretation of the fictional world.

At Walt Disney World, Pandora is a themed land featuring two attractions: ‘Avatar Flight of Passage‘, a 3D flying simulator that takes guests on a banshee flight, and ‘Na’vi River Journey,’ a slow-moving boat ride through a bioluminescent rainforest.

“Avatar: Guardians of Eywa” takes a theatrical approach. The approximately hour-long experience will combine immersive environments with live acrobatic performances inspired by the Na’vi and their connection to Pandora.

This seems like a great opportunity for visitors who enjoy the world of Avatar but prefer live entertainment to theme park rides. The Niagara Falls production will offer a different interpretation of Pandora, with performers and theatrical staging at the center of the experience.

It will not be a replacement for the theme park land, which offers a larger outdoor environment and two rides, but it will provide another way to encounter Pandora outside a traditional theme park.

“Avatar: Guardians of Eywa” uses Magic Walk, an immersive entertainment format developed by IMMEX that combines large-scale multimedia environments, environmental storytelling, robotics and live performance.

The format is designed to take guests through multiple chapters of a story before culminating in a shared theatrical finale. Although robotics are part of the Magic Walk technology, Niagara Parks has not confirmed whether robotic elements will appear in this particular production.

‘Avatar: Guardians of Eywa’ tickets, location and what to expect

“Avatar: Guardians of Eywa” will make its world premiere May 17, 2027, at Table Rock Centre in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. The venue is located beside Horseshoe Falls, providing a convenient location for visitors already exploring one of Canada’s most famous natural attractions.

The experience is expected to last approximately 60 minutes and will unfold in two main stages. Guests will first explore Pandora’s Rainforest and Coastal Reef environments at their own pace, encountering interactive installations inspired by the planet’s fictional plants and wildlife.

The walkthrough will lead into a live theatrical production featuring acrobatics, choreography and cinematic effects. The performance will follow the Na’vi cycle of life, with themes of community and connection.

Disney Theatrical Group’s involvement extends the company’s growing portfolio of immersive entertainment beyond traditional stage productions. Its projects include “Mundo Pixar Experience,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas Light Trail” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Immersive Adventure.”
