Pokémon Krispy Kreme collection gets an early reveal, but one big question remains

After years of Pokémon-themed doughnuts delighting fans overseas, the popular collaboration appears to finally be making its way to the United States.

Food news account Snackolator shared an early look at what appears to be an upcoming Pokémon x Krispy Kreme grocery collection, featuring a six-count assortment with four Pokémon-inspired doughnuts. While Krispy Kreme has not officially announced the promotion, the preview has fans wondering whether Krispy Kreme locations will offer an even larger in-store lineup.

Early look showcases four Pokémon doughnuts

The grocery store package features four decorated doughnuts inspired by:

  • Pikachu
  • Charmander
  • Jigglypuff
  • A Poké Ball

The remaining two doughnuts in the six-pack appear to be Krispy Kreme’s Original Glazed. Snackolater also noted that additional doughnuts could be part of the collection, though nothing has been confirmed.

Krispy Kreme has not announced a release date, pricing, flavors, or participating locations.

The biggest mystery: What’s coming to Krispy Kreme locations?

The early reveal answers one question—Pokémon-themed doughnuts appear to be on the way—but leaves another unanswered.

What will be available inside Krispy Kreme stores? Many of the company’s previous limited-time collaborations have featured shop-exclusive assortments, themed dozens, or individual doughnuts beyond what’s available in grocery stores. Since only the retail six-pack has surfaced so far, it’s possible Krispy Kreme locations could offer additional Pokémon-inspired treats when the collection officially launches.

For now, however, that’s purely speculation. Krispy Kreme has yet to reveal what, if anything, will be exclusive to its shops.

Pokémon and Krispy Kreme have teamed up before

Pokémon-themed Krispy Kreme doughnuts have been popular in other countries. In Australia in 2021, Krispy Kreme celebrated Pokémon’s 25th anniversary with a collection featuring Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, and a Poké Ball. Each character doughnut had its own unique decorations and filling, making the promotion a hit with Pokémon fans.

More recently, South Korea received its own Pokémon collaboration featuring Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Psyduck, Ditto, Diglett, and a Poké Ball, showing that the partnership has continued to evolve with different characters and designs in various markets.

The U.S. grocery assortment appears to borrow from those previous international collections, bringing back Pikachu, Charmander, Jigglypuff, and the iconic Poké Ball while leaving fans wondering if more characters could appear in Krispy Kreme shops.

Waiting for an official announcement

Whether Krispy Kreme locations will feature an expanded assortment remains unknown, but fans won’t have to wait much longer to find out. Attractions Magazine will update this story if Krispy Kreme officially announces the collection or reveals what’s coming to its shops.
