Remembering Patrick Stewart’s surprising Disney and theme park connections

Sir Patrick Stewart, the celebrated British actor best known for portraying Captain Jean-Luc Picard in “Star Trek” and Professor Charles Xavier in the “X-Men” films, died Oct. 28, 2026, at age 86.

Across a career spanning more than six decades, Stewart became synonymous with two of science fiction’s most beloved characters.

His commanding voice and unmistakable screen presence also found a home in some unexpected places, including a Las Vegas attraction that transported guests aboard the USS Enterprise and a Disneyland stage production that brought a classic Disney villain to life.

While generations of fans remember Stewart for his work on television, in film and on stage, his contributions to themed entertainment are part of his legacy.

Here are some of the Disney movies, theme park attractions and other experiences that featured his performances.

Patrick Stewart’s Disney and theme park connections

Stewart’s captivating voice thrilled moviegoers and television viewers for decades. And yet, Stewart didn’t stop there. He lent his distinct voice to a few theme park attractions too.

Star Trek: The Experience brought Captain Picard to Las Vegas

Patrick Stewart reprised his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard for ‘Star Trek: The Experience,’ an elaborate attraction that opened at the Las Vegas Hilton in 1998. Developed with Paramount Parks, the experience transported guests into the world of “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” complete with a recreation of the USS Enterprise-D bridge, encounters with Starfleet personnel and a motion simulator adventure.

Stewart appeared as Picard in a prerecorded video at the conclusion of the original Klingon Encounter attraction, addressing guests after their return to the 21st century. “Star Trek: The Experience” later expanded with Borg Invasion 4-D in 2004 before closing in September 2008.

“Star Trek” also made its way to Central Florida through “Star Trek: The Exhibition,” which appeared at Kennedy Space Center in 2011 and on Orlando’s International Drive in 2012. As Attractions Magazine reported at the time, the exhibition featured authentic costumes, props and sets, including a life-size model of the Scorpion spacecraft from “Star Trek: Nemesis,” starring Stewart as Captain Picard.

Stewart voiced the Magic Mirror in a Disneyland stage production

Stewart provided the voice of the Magic Mirror in ‘Snow White—An Enchanting Musical,’ a 28-minute stage adaptation of Disney’s 1937 animated classic. The production opened Feb. 23, 2004, at Disneyland’s Fantasyland Theatre in California.

The elaborate production featured live performers, large-scale sets and theatrical effects. Stewart’s prerecorded performance brought the Magic Mirror to life as the Evil Queen sought reassurance that she remained the fairest of them all.

The show ran until Sept. 4, 2006.

Although Stewart’s stage production closed in 2006, Snow White and the Evil Queen remain fixtures of Disneyland’s Fantasyland. In 2021, Disney reopened the classic dark ride as ‘Snow White’s Enchanted Wish‘, introducing new scenes, music and special effects while retaining the Evil Queen’s ominous presence.

Patrick Stewart’s animated film roles included “Bambi II”

Stewart voiced the Great Prince of the Forest, Bambi’s father, in Disney’s “Bambi II,” released directly to home video in the United States on Feb. 7, 2006. Set during the events of the original film, the sequel follows Bambi as he adjusts to life with his father following his mother’s death.

His other animated film credits included Mr. Woolensworth, a sheep teacher in Disney’s “Chicken Little” (2005), William Shakespeare in “Gnomeo & Juliet” (2011) and Ariscratle in “Ice Age: Continental Drift” (2012).

Stewart also contributed to the English-language dub of Studio Ghibli’s “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.”

His voice was recorded for “The Nightmare Before Christmas”

Stewart recorded opening and closing narration for Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” (1993), but his recordings were not used in the finished film.

His narration was preserved on the movie’s original soundtrack album. Although his voice cannot be heard in the theatrical version, the recordings remain part of the film’s musical history.

Professor X’s connections to Disney and Universal theme parks

Stewart portrayed Professor Charles Xavier across the “X-Men” film franchise, beginning with the original movie in 2000. He later reprised the role in Marvel Studios’ “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” (2022), marking his appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The character also has a connection to Universal Orlando Resort. At Islands of Adventure, the X-Men-themed ‘Storm Force Accelatron‘ places guests in a battle against Magneto, using a device developed by Professor Xavier to help Storm defeat the villain. Stewart did not provide a performance for the attraction, but the ride remains a connection between his best-known Marvel character and the theme park industry.

More recently, Universal Studios Hollywood brought the world of ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ to life during its inaugural Fan Fest Nights in 2025. The immersive experience transported guests aboard the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D, the starship commanded by Stewart’s Captain Picard, for a mission set in the year 2403.

Attractions Magazine attended opening night and documented the experience as guests encountered an interstellar threat aboard the famous starship.

Patrick Stewart’s legacy continues with “Avengers: Doomsday”

Stewart will return as Professor Charles Xavier in Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Doomsday,” opening in theaters Dec. 18, 2026. The film reunites him with several actors from the original “X-Men” franchise, including Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops and Rebecca Romijn as Mystique.

Following Stewart’s death, Marvel Studios paid tribute to the actor, remembering his portrayal of Professor X across the “X-Men” films, “Logan” and “Avengers: Doomsday.” The studio described him as a singular talent and generous collaborator. Whether Disney and Marvel will include a dedication to Stewart in the upcoming film remains to be seen.
