Review: Freeform’s Halloween Road is back to its old tricks

Although last year’s event was modified as a drive-through experience, Freeform’s fourth annual Halloween Road is back to its original walk-through format on Oct. 1-5, 2021, with more tricks (and treats) than ever.

The immersive outdoor event kicks off Freeform’s month-long 31 Nights of Halloween programming on Oct. 1-31 and allows fans to step into the spooktacular worlds of “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Hocus Pocus,” “The Addams Family,” and “Ghostbusters” block party-style at the Heritage Square Museum in Los Angeles.

“We’re thrilled to bring back our beloved ‘Halloween Road’ to the fans,” said Joe Ortiz, senior vice president of content marketing for Freeform. “Freeform continues to create innovative events that truly deliver one-of-a-kind fan experiences. This year, attendees will be treated to an unbelievable night where they can interact with some of the most celebrated Halloween entertainment properties in the world.”

Freeform's Halloween Road - Hocus Pocus Drag Show

New additions to this year’s sold-out event are a “Hocus Pocus” drag show starring the Sanderson Sisters and a beer and wine garden where guests 21+ can enjoy spooky sips (garden guests have access to VIP placement for the show).

But that’s not all. Finkelstein’s Lab From “Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas” has returned for the first time since Freeform’s inaugural Halloween event with a photo-op powered by event sponsor Hyundai. A second new photo-op at The Addams Family” Mansion lets daring guests pose with Wednesday and Uncle Fester in Pugsley’s electric chair.

To celebrate the return of Freeform’s Halloween Road, a VIP event on Sept. 30 gave celebrities like musician Pete Wentz (Fall Out Boy), actress Cierra Ramirez (“Good Trouble”), and director Jason Reitman and actress McKenna Grace (“Ghostbusters: Afterlife”) the opportunity to hobnob with William “Billy” Butcherson, the Sanderson Sisters, and the Ghostbusters.
