Sequel to hit Disney parody ‘The Animatronicans’ debuts May 17 at Orlando Fringe
Dreamfinder, Abe Lincoln, and their audio-animatronic roommates are now ‘Under New Management’ and retuning to the Orlando Fringe theater festival this May in the second installment of their outrageous theme park satire, The Animatronicans.
In 2016, The Animatronicans won the Critics Choice award for Best Comedy the Orlando International Fringe Festival. Now the, original cast is returning with an all new show presented by Attractions Magazine at the 2019 Orlando Fringe, debuting on May 17.
Animatronicans: Under New Management revisits the cast of animatronic characters from area theme park attractions in sitcom style show. Returning characters include President Abraham Lincoln (Josh Siniscalco), Journey into Imagination’s Dreamfinder (Jeff Jones), now closed Maelstrom’s Polar Bear (James Keaton) and Carousel of Progress’s John (Doug Ba’aser).
In this installment of the series, the characters’ out-of-the-theme parks lifestyle is turned upside down when a decision from company management assigns the recently unemployed red head from the Pirates of the Caribbean (Erin Cline) to be their new roommate. Matters are further complicated when the real-life problems of their human friends; theme park employee Charlie (Brett Waldon) and overly friendly neighbor Susan (Janine Klein), collide.
Many other surprises and character cameos are in store for die hard and casual theme park fans in this stand-alone sitcom spoof. Keaton, Cline, and Siniscalco will be familiar to long-time attendees of Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights as the iconic villains Jack, Chance, and the Usher. Even the show’s subtitle is a reference to the ill-fated version of Walt Disney World’s Enchanted Tiki Room, which once featured Iago and Zazu before being damaged by a fire.
The show is written by Jeff Jones (Welcome to Hell, Hell Freezes Over, Little Miss Fringe Festival) and directed by Fringe veteran Michael Wanzie (The Lion Queen and the Naked GoGo Cub, Wanzie with a Z).
The Animatronicans: Under New Management opens on Friday, May 17 at 9:10 p.m. Additional shows are on Sunday, May 19 at 10:45 p.m.; Monday, May 20 at 7:45 p.m.; Thursday, May 23 at 6:45 p.m.; Saturday, May 25 at 10:45 p.m.; and Sunday, May 26 3:15 p.m..
