by Samantha Davis-Friedman

Sesame Place San Diego is adding two all-new experiences in summer 2023: The Count’s Splash Castle water-play area and Sunny Day Café character dining, the first major additions since the park opened in March 2022.

Guests to the only theme park on the West Coast themed entirely to Sesame Street can already enjoy rides, water slides, shows, parades, the interactive Sesame Street Neighborhood, and meet-and-greets with all their favorite furry friends, and in summer 2023, they’ll also be able to splash in the new water-play attraction and enjoy meals with Sesame Street characters.

“We’re constantly adding new activities and events to enhance the guest experience, increasing the number of opportunities to interact with their favorite characters, and with the expansion of our dining options (plus our mobile ordering), our guests will be able to enjoy more convenience throughout their days at the park,” said Sesame Place Park President Jim Lake. “Between our new attractions, increased dining options and 2023 event lineup that will be all-new to our guests, we look forward to an amazing year.”

The Count’s Splash Castle

The all-new multi-level, interactive water-play attraction features 111 play elements, including two giant tipping buckets (that dump over 1,300 gallons of water combined) and three water slides, plus soakers, flow pipes, hose jets, spray jets, water shooters, water curtains, tipping troughs, spinning and sliding buckets, and much more.

The Count’s Splash Castle replaces the former splash area and is double the size of the previous attraction, making a day in the SoCal park even splashier than ever.

Sunny Day Café Character Dining

Guests of all ages can dine with Sesame Street friends in this new indoor and air-conditioned 5,000-square-foot character dining location featuring family-friendly buffet-style meals and an immersive character experience with singing, dancing, and photo opportunities. There will also be special events and dining activities throughout the year, including Dine with Elmo & Friends.
