Sesame Place San Diego switching to seasonal calendar, discontinuing Halloween & Christmas events
Sesame Place San Diego will switch to a seasonal operations calendar effective immediately, ending its previously annual Halloween and Christmas special events.
Sesame Place San Diego’s final operating day for its 2025 season will be Sunday, Sept. 21. The park, located in Chula Vista, Calif., announced the schedule change on Sept. 15, 2025.
The park will reopen in spring 2026, at which time it will begin a seasonal calendar of only opening during the warmer months of the year. This effectively means the park’s annual holiday celebrations — The Count’s Halloween Spooktacular and A Very Furry Christmas — are canceled.
Similarly, Six Flags canceled Halloween and holiday season events at multiple parks for 2025.
“By focusing on our most popular times of year, we can deliver the best possible experience from the moment guests arrive until the moment they leave,” said a post on the park’s Instagram page.
Sesame Place San Diego season passholders will automatically receive admission to SeaWorld San Diego for the rest of 2025. SeaWorld, which previously featured “Sesame Street”-themed attractions but now doesn’t, hosts its annual Halloween Spooktacular and Christmas Celebration.
SeaWorld and Sesame Place are both owned and operated by United Parks & Resorts. The parks are approximately 23 miles apart.
Sesame Place San Diego opened in 2022, replacing the former Aquatica San Diego (also owned by United).

This added benefit offers unlimited admission to SeaWorld and access to seasonal events including Halloween Spooktacular and Christmas Celebration.
