On May 11, the park gates were officially reopened, with spring decorations out in full force and an epic fanfare:

Cast members from every themed land in the park joined more than 30 favorite Disney characters to welcome back guests, including Mickey Mouse and his pals, Duffy and friends, Marvel Super Heroes, Disney Princesses, the Toy Story toys, and more.

“Since the reopening of Disneytown, Wishing Star Park and Shanghai Disneyland Hotel in early March, we have been deeply moved by the encouragement from our guests and Disney fans,” said Joe Schott, president and general manager of Shanghai Disney Resort. “Today, we are extremely pleased to reopen Shanghai Disneyland thanks to the unwavering efforts of our cast members and our community. Today’s celebrations will be remembered with joy, as we look forward to welcoming our guests back to this happy place.”

Just one day earlier on May 10, Andrew Bolstein, senior vice president of Operations for the Shanghai Disney Resort, gave a tour to the press showcasing the efforts being made to promote guest and cast safety. Some of the measures put in place include social distancing throughout the park, temperature screenings, face masks being required at all times except for eating, and more, which you can read here.

Shanghai Disneyland originally closed on Jan. 24, and went into phased reopening with limited offerings returning to Disneytown, Wishing Star Park, and Shanghai Disneyland Hotel on March 9.

Currently, Shanghai Disneyland is the only Disney Park in the world that has reopened its gates to guests during the global health crisis. However, Walt Disney World Resort could be soon behind, as they announced last week that their shopping and dining district, Disney Springs, would begin a phased reopening on May 20.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Disney Parks around the world as we await new updates regarding their reopening.
