Sneak peek inside the new Country Bear Musical Jamboree

Disney shared a look behind the scenes at new costumes in progress for Country Bear Musical Jamboree, opening this summer at Disney World.

Florida locals Bunny, Bubbles, and Beulah will return to Magic Kingdom Park’s Grizzly Hall as part of Country Bear Musical Jamboree, a new take on the classic show at Walt Disney World Resort. When they take the stage again following their show’s hibernation, the trio will wear all-new costumes, trading their previous turquoise bonnets for pink cowgirl ensembles.

Disney revealed the sneak peak in a social media video and a Disney Parks Blog post. The footage shows cast members at work backstage developing the bears’ new wardrobe. Creating costumes for Audio-Animatronics figures is a bit different from developing them for human performers.

“[The bears] have lots of repetitive movement,” said Sara Landesberg, Audio-Animatronic costumer with Disney Live Entertainment, “so a lot of times we’ll add gussets or additional pockets of fabric to give them more room to move in those repetitive movements without destroying the costume.”

Disney has not announced a specific opening date for Country Bear Jamboree other than “summer 2024.” Nearby, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open June 28, 2024 following several annual passholder preview dates.

Can You Teach an Old Bear New Songs?

Country Bear Musical Jamboree will star the same familiar bears performing in the same theater as its predecessor, Country Bear Jamboree, in a completely new show with different songs. This time, the critters will sing Disney tunes rather than (’70s-era) country hits. Disney has not yet revealed which tune Bunny, Bubbles, and Beulah will serenade audiences with in the new show.

In the robotic revue’s previous iteration, Bunny, Bubbles, and Beulah performed “All the Guys Who Turn Me On Turn Me Down,” frequently eliciting chuckles from the audience. First-timers were known to be surprised but amused to hear such words in a Disney theme park (from a show that debuted in 1971, no less!). “Every time I meet a guy who gets me shook,” the bears sang, “all I ever get from him’s a dirty look.”
