St. Patrick’s Day lasts an entire month at Busch Gardens Williamsburg

St. Patrick’s Day will be celebrated on March 17, 2022 in most places, but at Busch Gardens Williamsburg it starts March 4 and runs all the way through March 27, with new live entertainment, a leprechaun scavenger hunt, and more.

The park’s St. Patrick’s Day Celebration, which takes place on Fridays-Sundays (plus Thursday, March 17, of course), is filled with festivities, green beer, and lots of Irish spirit.

A host of entertainment options include returning live music by Dublin Over and Emerald Ensemble, along with two groups that are making their debut appearances during the celebration. Irish rock band, Rockin’ Celts, perform tributes to U2, Flogging Molly, the Cranberries, and more. Celtic Fyre explores traditional storytelling through the art of Irish dance.

The Oktoberfest area of the park gets its Irish on, too, with a St. Paddy’s DJ, who cranks out electronic dance music from high atop Das Festhaus.

Local dance schools add to the live entertainment options.

Youngsters are in for family fun while searching the park looking for Ireland’s “wee folk” in the Leprechaun Scavenger Hunt. Stop at the Welcome Center and pick up a clue sheet, then head out in search of nine hidden leprechauns.

Preschoolers won’t want to miss the live “Sunny Day Celebration” song and dance show in Sesame Street Forest of Fun, featuring Elmo and his friends. And everyone can enjoy the Killarney Village Celebration, complete with stilt-walkers, Irish townsfolk, music, and the chance to meet Mayor O’Malley and have a photo taken.

Also visit Killarney village for a cold brew, and check out other Irish offerings such as Guinness Mousse; St. Patrick’s Day kettle corn; and Black & Tan or Snakebite specialty beers.

Those who visit on March 17 – and show up wearing something green! – might end up receiving a nice surprise from The Shamrock Surprise Squad, Miss Molly Malone and Mayor O’Malley.

The park’s world-class attractions will be open, including a special March 4 “member’s early access” ride on the brand-new Pantheon multi-launch roller coaster.
