Tidal Surge is headed straight for SeaWorld San Antonio

Tidal Surge, the world’s tallest, fastest “screaming swing” will have its grand opening at SeaWorld San Antonio on March 5, 2022, with pass member previews on February 26-27.

What does it take to claim the title of the world’s tallest and fastest swing ride? It takes two pendulum-like swinging arms that make progressive rotations until they reach a maximum height of 135 feet, at speeds up to 68 miles per hour.

That’s what SeaWorld San Antonio’s new thrill ride, Tidal Surge, will achieve, and annual pass members will be the first to experience heart-pounding excitement.

The screaming swing, which lives up to the motto, “Everything is bigger in Texas,” features seating for 40 guests, and two dueling arms that will alternate sides, swaying back and forth at 68 m.p.h. while creating several exhilarating moments of air time, levitating guests right out of their seats with each rotation.

During their ride, passengers will sit with dangling legs and experience hang-time as they soar over the park’s waterski lake, then experience multiple negative G moments while plunging backwards toward the ground before swinging up again.

And the view will be incredible.

“We are excited to add another thrilling ride for our guests to enjoy,” said Byron Surrett, SeaWorld San Antonio park president. “Tidal Surge will set records and be an exciting addition to our already impressive collection of rides that appeal to our guests who enjoy adrenaline pumping experiences.”

Those who have or who purchase a pass membership to SeaWorld San Antonio can give the ride a try one full week before it opens, plus enjoy unlimited admission to the park, and to Aquatica, for the duration of 2022. The inclusion of a “free entry” perk for the Aquatica park is for a limited time only.

Pass membership also includes free parking, exclusive pass member events, discounts, access to upcoming signature events such as Seven Seas Food Festival, BierFest, Howl-O-Scream and Spooktacular, SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration, and the New Year’s Eve Fireworks Celebration.

Tidal Surge’s grand opening ceremony will take place on Saturday, March 5, when the ride will open to all guests who meet the height requirement of 48 inches.
