Urgent Transmissions from Star Wars Heroes

Disney said Star Tours flights will be interrupted by “urgent transmissions” from Andor Cassian, Ahsoka Tano, Din Djarin (aka The Mandalorian), and Grogu (aka Baby Yoda), marking the first appearance of all four characters in a Disney theme park ride.

The changes will take effect at Disneyland Park in California, Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida, and Disneyland Paris. Disney did not mention updates for Tokyo Disneyland’s version of the attraction.

Onboard Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, guests’ sight-seeing flight soon goes awry, as these things almost always do. Piloted by C-3PO and R2-D2, the ship travels to various destinations familiar to the “Star Wars” galaxy, encountering friends and foes along the way.

Along with the new characters, Disney will add a new planet — Peridea from “Ahsoka” — to the attraction’s lineup of possible destinations.

Disney first teased new Star Tours destinations last spring before announcing Ahsoka as a new character for the attraction in September. Today’s announcement was the first time Disney mentioned Andor, Din, and Grogu joining the ride.

Over 250 Star Tours Possibilities

Star Tours – The Adventures Continue randomizes guests’ experience. Disney says with the new changes, the ride is capable of over 250 possible combinations of characters, locations, and scenarios.

Star Tours – The Adventures Continue

It’s something of a tradition to update the attraction as new “Star Wars” projects emerge. Star Tours – The Adventures Continue allows a fluid, incongruous timeline not tethered to the “Star Wars” canon. Characters and moments from various points across the series make appearances. This differs from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which sticks firmly to a specific time in the grander story (save for a few character greetings).

More on the Way from Andor, Ahsoka, and the Mandalorian

Based on the above imagery, it appears that Diego Luna and Rosario Dawson returned to reprise their roles as Andor and Ahsoka, respectively, in new footage filmed for Star Tours. Since Din Djarin wears his helmet as a loyal Mandalorian, it’s impossible to say if Pedro Pascal returned to film new scenes for the attraction. Grogu will, of course, play himself.

In any case, Pascal still has plenty of “Star Wars” in his future, as do Luna and Dawson. “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” a movie slated for theatrical release, will begin production later this year. Meanwhile, season two of “Andor” wrapped filming last month and a second season of “Ahsoka” is in development.

Season of the Force

At Disneyland, the new Star Tours moments will coincide with the launch of Season of the Force. The special event, taking place April 5 – June 2, 2024, will also include “Star Wars” music during the park’s fireworks when viewed from Galaxy’s Edge, as well as the return of Hyperspace Mountain.
