Super Mario is finally getting Lego minifigures — with lots of Super Nintendo World love

Lego is giving Mario, Luigi and the Mushroom Kingdom a major makeover in 2027, introducing Lego minifigures to its Super Mario sets for the first time.

From Mario Kart and Bowser’s Castle to Yoshi, Princess Peach, Toad, Goombas, Koopa Troopas, coins and shells, many of the characters and environments represented in the new sets have also made the jump from Nintendo games into the real world at Super Nintendo World.

Lego reveals new Super Mario minifigure sets

The Lego Group officially revealed its refreshed Lego Super Mario collection Aug. 26 at gamescom in Cologne, Germany. The company previously teased the arrival of Super Mario minifigures during MAR10 Day celebrations earlier in 2026, but the new announcement provides the first full look at the initial sets.

Eight sets will launch Jan. 1, 2027, ranging from the $9.99, 61-piece Mario’s Pipe Jump to the $99.99, 850-piece Fire Mario & Bowser’s Castle.

The collection includes:

• Mario’s Pipe Jump — $9.99, 61 pieces
• Racing with Mario — $14.99, 84 pieces
• Mario’s Beach Adventures — $19.99, 196 pieces
• Luigi & Bowser Jr.’s Race — $29.99, 104 pieces
• Yoshi at Mario’s House — $39.99, 147 pieces
• Bowser’s Rumbling Race — $59.99, 409 pieces
• Fire Luigi vs. Koopa Troopa Battle — $29.99, 241 pieces
• Fire Mario & Bowser’s Castle — $99.99, 850 pieces

Lego and Nintendo launched their first interactive Super Mario building sets in 2020, built around larger electronic Mario figures and interactive courses. The 2027 collection shifts the emphasis toward traditional minifigure-scale play, with Lego describing the new direction as centered on creative minifigure roleplay.

Super Nintendo World connections

These Lego Super Mario products are based on Nintendo’s games and are not considered Super Nintendo World sets. Still, the connections to Universal’s theme park lands are hard to miss.

Among the most notable is Bowser’s Castle. Bowser’s imposing fortress is one of the defining landmarks of Super Nintendo World, housing ‘Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge.’ At Universal Epic Universe, guests enter the castle before boarding the attraction and racing through Mario Kart courses, throwing shells and collecting digital coins in an attempt to defeat Team Bowser.

There are plenty of Mario Kart touchstones throughout the Lego collection. Racing with Mario includes a kart, shells, a Banana and coin, while Luigi & Bowser Jr.’s Race adds another pair of karts and shell launchers. Bowser’s Rumbling Race expands the lineup with Bowser, Toad, a Goomba and multiple vehicles.

Yoshi is getting some attention, too. The Yoshi at Mario’s House set includes Mario and Yoshi minifigures, while Yoshi has an entire attraction at Super Nintendo World in Epic Universe. ‘Yoshi’s Adventure’ carries guests through colorful Mushroom Kingdom landscapes in search of glowing eggs.

Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and Toad can also be encountered as characters inside Epic Universe’s Super Nintendo World, further bridging the characters represented in Lego form with those guests now meet inside the theme park.

For anyone who has walked beneath the towering Bowser’s Castle, raced Team Bowser or collected coins inside Super Nintendo World, the new Lego collection offers plenty of familiar pieces of the Mushroom Kingdom to rebuild at home.
