Ultimate guide to Epcot International Food & Wine Festival 2023

Included with park admission and taking place during regular operating hours, Epcot International Food & Wine Festival 2023 features an expansive selection of food booths, called Global Marketplaces, plus live entertainment and other activities, in addition to the year-round international cuisine offered in Epcot’s World Showcase pavilions.

What’s on the menu this year? What exclusive merch will be available? Most importantly, where can you try Dr. Bunsen Honeydew’s pickle milkshake? Let’s dive in and explore everything the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival 2023 has to offer.

Muppet Labs Coming to Epcot

It’s time to play the music, it’s time to… make a pickle milkshake? New for 2023, beloved Muppet scientists Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker will set up a Muppet Labs tasting headquarters called the Brew-Wing Lab. The location will be inside the Odyssey building, a flex space between Test Track and Mexico.

Inside the Brew-Wing Lab, guests can watch Dr. Honeydew and Beaker perform food-related experiments on video screens, and get a chance to try some of their creations for themselves, including a pickle milkshake and an “unnecessarily spicy, yet extremely tasty” scotch bonnet pepper-curry wings with cool cucumber yogurt.

Tour of the Muppet Themed Brew-Wing Lab at Epcot Food and Wine Festival

Taking to social media, the duo shared their excitement for being part of this year’s festival. “We are delighted to be joining the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival as your taste testers in residence,” said Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, “where we’ll be testing the tastes of tomorrow, today.”

“Meep meep meep meep, meep meep, meep moh moh,” Beaker added.

This news comes on the heels of the recent announcement that Kermit and Miss Piggy will host a glamorous holiday revue during Disney Jollywood Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It’s great to see Disney utilizing the Muppets more, especially after the closure of their live show at Magic Kingdom.

That being said, this won’t be Bunsen and Beaker’s first visit to Epcot. Several years ago, they roamed the park conducting science experiments. To reiterate, though, barring any surprises, Disney emphasized that Bunsen and Beaker’s presence at Food & Wine will be video only.

No Tasting Samplers, Just Gift Cards

If you’ve been to other theme park food festivals, or if you visited Epcot during International Food & Wine several years ago, you might be familiar with tasting samplers, an upfront purchase of several dining credits redeemable for festival food and drinks. At the time of this writing, Epcot does not utilize tasting samplers for its festivals. (Disney’s official website page for the retired product is still active, but empty.)

Instead, Disney encourages Food & Wine guests to purchase a Disney Gift Card to use specifically for festival treats. An exclusive, Food & Wine-themed Disney Gift Card is smaller than a typical card, and comes attached to a bracelet for easy access as you stroll the park. With a minimum loading charge of $15, the Food & Wine Disney Gift Cards are available at merchandise locations park-wide, including Gateway Gifts, Creations Shop, Port of Entry, and World Traveler. If you have money leftover, the card still functions the same as any Disney Gift Card, and can be used on most purchases at any Disney theme park or online at shopDisney.

Eat to the Beat Concert Series Lineup

As part of the festival, the Eat to the Beat Concert Series takes place in the American Gardens Theater. Showtimes are nightly at 5:30, 6:45, and 8 p.m. The lineup includes famous musicians, as well as local talent. All concerts are included with park admission.

Eat to the Beat Concert Series Dining Package

Though Eat to the Beat performances are free, guests can purchase a dining package to receive guaranteed reserved seating. International Food & Wine Festival 2023 Merchandise

Guests can shop several new merchandise collections during the festival. A complete product lineup with prices isn’t yet available, but Disney teased a few of the items on the way.

The Event Logo Collection features an all-over print of illustrated Food & Wine iconography on products like a Mickey Mouse ear headband and a Loungefly mini-backpack.

Sporting the classic couple in culinary outfits on items, the Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse Picnic Collection includes items like a Dooney & Bourke bag, a Corkcicle cup, and a Spirit Jersey jacket.

The “Encanto” Collection includes an apron inspired by Mirabel, as well as a serving platter depicting the Madrigals’ casita.

Lastly, the Figment Annual Passholder Collection will feature festival merch exclusively for Walt Disney World APs.

Scavenger Hunts

Epcot offers three fun activities during the International Food & Wine Festival that are perfect for keeping the whole family engaged with your tour around the world of cuisine.

To participate in Emile’s Fromage Montage (named after Emile, Remy’s brother in “Ratatouille”), pick up a complimentary Festival Passport as you enter Epcot. Select menu items park-wide are marked as part of this cheese-themed adventure. Purchase five of these menu items, and ask the Cast Member at each Global Marketplace to stamp your Festival Passport. Upon completion, stop by Shimmering Sips Global Marketplace for a prize.

Remy’s Ratatouille Hide & Squeak is a hunt through World Showcase. Purchase a scavenger map and search for small statues of Remy. When you’ve found them all, you can receive a prize at Creations Shop, Disney Traders, or World Traveler.

Some of the festival’s duration intersects with the Halloween season. Guests who want to get into the spooky spirit can play Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit, offered Sept. 29 – Oct. 31, 2023. Players purchase a game board and search for pumpkins throughout Epcot that look like familiar Disney friends. All players, even if they don’t find every pumpkin, can receive a “spooky surprise” by stopping by Disney Traders or World Traveler.
