Stitch takes over Walt Disney World Railroad for shortened route at Magic Kingdom
The trains of the Walt Disney World Railroad now travel a much shorter route, and Stitch is along for the ride!

Effective July 7, 2025, and continuing for the next several years, the Walt Disney World Railroad at Magic Kingdom near Orlando, Fla., no longer circles the entire theme park. Instead, it travels back and forth between the Main Street, U.S.A., station at the very front of Magic Kingdom and the Fantasyland station in Storybook Circus.
To accommodate guests who may become nauseous by traveling backward, Disney rearranged some of the seating on the trains to face both ways. No matter which direction the train travels, guests have the option to sit forward or backward.

Stitch now has a main role in the Walt Disney World Railroad’s narration as the train travels from Main Street to Fantasyland. In newly recorded narration, Stitch helps the “conductor” (a prerecorded character) point out landmarks to passengers along the brief journey.
“Welcome to Morrow,” Stitch proudly proclaims as the train passes Tomorrowland. “To left, Morrow. To right, more Morrow. Stitch do good?”
Here’s the full video POV of the ride from Main Street to Fantasyland, featuring Stitch:
As the train nears Tron: Lightcycle / Run, Stitch is excited to join the roller coaster’s Team Blue. “Team Blue? Stitch blue!”
Stitch is not part of the narration when the train travels the opposite direction, from Fantasyland to Main Street. Note, Stitch’s appearance is audio only; he does not appear live on the train, nor do guests see him along the track’s pathway.
The modified train route is a result of the Frontierland station being out of service (effective July 7, 2025) for the length of construction for “Cars” rides at Magic Kingdom. Eventually, the railroad will return to its full-circle tour of Magic Kingdom. (Also part of the project, Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat permanently closed.)

Disney has not announced a timeframe for the Frontierland construction or an opening date for the “Cars” rides, though the project will take several years, Imagineers told Attractions Magazine on June 2, 2025.
During construction of Tron Lightcycle / Run, the entire Walt Disney World Railroad route was out of commission from December 2018 – December 2022.
