Warner Bros. plans new Studio Tour for Las Vegas with mystery IP … Jinkies!
Warner Bros. Discovery plans to open a new Studio Tour attraction in Las Vegas in 2027 as part of an $8.3 billion investment in production.

A proposed new Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) studio in Las Vegas, Nev. would be home to film production facilities and a new iteration of the company’s Studio Tour attraction.
The proposal document reads, “While the IP-basis for this studio attraction cannot be revealed at this time, WBD’s experience with its other studio-linked attractions suggests that it will attract hundreds of thousands of visitors of all ages each year and stimulate substantial tourism impacts for Clark County.”
WBD’s portfolio of IP includes the “Harry Potter” films, DC Comics, “Game of Thrones,” “Looney Tunes,” “Scooby-Doo,” and “Friends,” among others — any, all, or none of which may be the focus of the new Studio Tour attraction in Las Vegas.

The proposal for Warner Bros. Studios Nevada
Warner Bros. Discovery, University of Nevada Las Vegas, and the State of Nevada are jointly proposing a bill to the Nevada legislature for a film and television production tax credit program. If the bill passes, Warner Bros. plans to “transform piecemeal location filming into a sustainable film and television ecosystem, with a fully-fledged, studio-based, production hub at its heart.”

The proposal is detailed in a document titled “Bringing the Silver Screen to the Silver State: Economic Impact Assessment of Warner Bros. Studios Nevada,” as compiled by Nodicity and Saffery LLP and as shared publicly by the Nevada Independent on Oct. 11, 2024.
Across 47 acres, Warner Bros. Studios Nevada would include 14 soundstages, a technology lab, a healthcare facility, and, most relevant to the readers of Attractions Magazine, a new Studio Tour attraction and a 250-room hotel.
New Studio Tour in Las Vegas
The new Studio Tour attraction will require three years of construction, with the proposal document stating an intended opening of 2027 (should construction commence in 2025 as WBD hopes). WBD will commit at least $8.5 billion to first 15 years of the project’s film and television components.
As previously mentioned, the proposal shares that “the IP-basis for this studio attraction cannot be revealed at this time,” though even the mention indicates a plan for a purposeful theme or focus for Vegas’s Warner Bros. experience.

Warner Bros. Studios Nevada would be the corporation’s third global film hub, joining Warner Bros. Studios Burbank in California and Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in London.
The new Vegas iteration of the Studio Tour would be the company’s fourth such tourist attraction, joining Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood at the Burbank location, as well as The Making of Harry Potter Studio Tour at the Leavesden location and in Tokyo.
Separate from the new Studio Tour, WBD previously announced a permanent location for The Friends Experience will open in Las Vegas sometime in 2024.
Vegas becoming popular for attraction developers
The plans for a Vegas-based Warner Bros. Discovery studio location arrive as Las Vegas increasingly becomes a hot spot for all manner of attractions and themed experiences. The Area15 entertainment district opened in 2020 and will soon be home to Universal Horror Unleashed, a year-round haunt attraction in the style of Halloween Horror Nights at the Universal Studios theme parks. Vegas is also home to the Flyover simulator attraction and a “SpongeBob SquarePants” dark ride, among other enticements.
In September 2024, WBD announced a restructuring of the entities formerly known as “Warner Bros. Discovery Global Themed Entertainment” and “Warner Bros. Discovery Worldwide Studio Tours & Retail.” The two are now combined to form the new “Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences,” and would seemingly be responsible for the Studio Tour at Warner Bros. Studios Nevada.
