Our 2026 Walt Disney World monthly guide will help with your vacation planning for the coming year. There’s always something new to check out at the Florida resort. Below is a list all of every new attraction opening, all the special events, permanent closures, and refurbishments happening at all four theme parks around Walt Disney World. First up is the “glow up” of Cinderella’s Castle in the Magic Kingdom returning to its classic color scheme, with work commencing in January. Also, another interactive attraction comes to Disney Springs in the old NBA Experience/DisneyQuest spot sometime during the year.

January 2026
- Jan. 1-31: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed for refurbishment
- Jan. 1-31: Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin closed for refurbishment
- January TBA: Work begins for Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom to be re-painted in its traditional blue & white color scheme
- Jan. 7-11: runDisney WDW Marathon Weekend

- Jan. 12 & 19: Disney After Hours event at Magic Kingdom
- Jan. 14 & 28: Disney After Hours event at Hollywood Studios
- Jan. 16-31: Epcot International Festival of the Arts
- Jan. 22 & 29: Disney After Hours event at EPCOT
- Jan. 26-31: Frozen Ever After at Epcot closed for refurbishment (to update the Audio-Animatronic figures of Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff)
February 2026
- February TBA: Frozen Ever After reopens with updated Audio-Animatronic figures of Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff
- Feb. 1-23: Epcot International Festival of the Arts
- Feb. 1-28: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed for refurbishment
- Feb. 1-28: Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin closed for refurbishment
- Feb. 2: DinoLand permanently closes at Animal Kingdom, including Dinosaur (last day open is Feb. 1), to make way for new “Encanto” and “Indiana Jones” rides

- Feb. 2, 9, & 23: Disney After Hours at Magic Kingdom
- Feb. 4, 11, 21, & 25: Disney After Hours at Hollywood Studios
- Feb. 19: Disney After Hours at Epcot
- Feb. 26-28: runDisney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Spring 2026
- Spring TBA: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad reopens at Magic Kingdom with new Rainbow Caverns phosphorescent pools

- Spring TBA: Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin reopens at Magic Kingdom with new character “Buddy” and handheld blasters

March 2026
- March 1-2: Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend
- March 2: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster closes at Hollywood Studios for takeover by The Muppets. Last day to ride the Aerosmith version is March 1.

- March 2 & 9: Disney After Hours at Magic Kingdom
- March 4-31: Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival
- March 5 & 12: Disney After Hours at Epcot
April 2026
- April 1-30: Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival
- April 2, 9, 15, 23, & 30: Disney After Hours event at Epcot
- April 13 & 20: Disney After Hours at Magic Kingdom
- April 16-20: runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend
