‘Casper’ returning to movie theaters for 30th Anniversary this October
“Casper,” the 1995 movie, will be back in theaters nationwide Oct. 3 – 31, 2025, and tickets are already on sale.

Together, Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment are bringing the friendliest ghost back to theaters. Fans, new and old, can celebrate this Halloween season with Casper the friendly ghost. Tickets can be purchased today at Fandango.
The live action ‘Casper’ is full of stars
The movie “Casper” stars Bill Pullman as Dr. Harvey, a ghost therapist, and Christina Ricci as his daughter Kat. Casper is voiced by Malachi Pearson, and Devon Sawa was also involved in bringing Casper to the big screen (no spoilers for any new fans).
Other big voice actors lend their talents to this classic as well, including Joe Nipote as Stretch, Joe Alasky as Stinkie, and Brad Garrett as Fatso. This trio make up the out of control ghosts who haunt the home of Dr. Harvey and his daughter. Along with their nephew, Casper, this trio of out of control ghosts has been around awhile.
Some other cast members include Cathy Moriarty, Eric Idle, Ben Stein, Guido Sarducci, and John Kassir, who voices the infamous Crypt Keeper. Other big stars show up with uncredited cameos including Rodney Dangerfield, Mel Gibson, Dan Aykroyd, and Clint Eastwood.

There’s a lot of talent behind the screen of ‘Casper’ too
“Casper” was directed by filmmaker Brad Silberling, known for many projects including “A Series of Unfortunate Events” (2004). The score was created by two-time Academy Award winner, James Horner, known for “Titanic,” “Field of Dreams,” and “Avatar.”
Producer Colin Wilson known for many blockbuster films, including “The Lost World: Jurassic Park.” “Casper” was written by Sherri Stoner and Deanna Olvier, a Daytime Emmy winner and nominee, respectively.
Casper is much older than 30
Created by Joseph Oriolo, Casper has been around a lot longer than 30 years. He first appeared on screens as the friendliest ghost you’ll ever know back in 1945 as a cartoon. By 1952 he was showing up in comic books. For generations he has been entertaining kids and adults alike with his ghostly, but friendly demeanor.
