Disneyland announces steakhouse, barbecue for Downtown Disney
A steakhouse and a barbecue restaurant will open at Downtown Disney in the space formerly occupied by Tortilla Jo’s, plus more dining news.
A multi-year overhaul of dining and entertainment choices is underway at Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif. As part of the ongoing progress, Disney today announced more new projects and provided updates on others.
Steakhouse, Barbecue Replacing Tortilla Jo’s
Two establishments — a steakhouse restaurant and a barbecue eatery — will replace the recently-closed Tortilla Jo’s and adjacent quick-service Taqueria at Tortilla Jo’s. Disney did not provide any additional information at this time.
Tortilla Jo’s final day of operation is April 14, 2024.
Marceline’s Confectionery Re-Imagining
Marceline’s Confectionery in Downtown Disney will become “an all-new, expanded and completely re-imagined confection experience.” Disney didn’t mention a timeline, but said construction “will soon be in progress.”
To accommodate construction, a cart selling Marceline’s items will set up shop outside within Downtown Disney. Additionally, The Disney Dress Shop (located next door to Marceline’s) will temporarily move to WonderGround Gallery. Select artwork from WonderGround Gallery will subsequently move to Disney Home.
Opening Month, New Artwork for Mexican Restaurants
Disney revealed an opening month, May 2024, for three previously announced restaurants from Chef Carlos Gaytán: Paseo, Céntrico, Tiendita, which replaced Catal, Uva Bar, and Sprinkles cupcakes respectively.
Disney did not specify an exact opening date, but shared the following new concept artwork for Paseo and Céntrico.
Disney also shared a new photo of a dish from Céntrico: tlayuda, an Oaxacan food similar to pizza.

Opening Season for Din Tai Fung
Din Tai Fung will open at Downtown Disney in summer 2024, Disney shared today. The previously announced establishment is a restaurant brand from Taiwan and known for its Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings.

Everything New (and Gone) at Downtown Disney
These many culinary projects join Downtown Disney Live!, a new entertainment space that opened last fall. The area features Legacy Tower, designed by artist Nikkolas Smith and inspired by the work of iconic Black architects.
