‘Harry Potter’ movies back in theaters

Accio movie marathon! The entire series of Warner Bros. “Harry Potter” movies is returning to Regal Cinemas theaters as part of the WB’s “Back to Hogwarts” campaign. Depending on location, the movies will be presented as standard screenings, 4DX, or 3D.

The screenings will take place Aug. 20 – Sept. 1, 2025. Screenings will be limited; rather than each movie “releasing” and playing daily, each film will screen for one day. The specific date depends on the movie theater; consult your local listings. The one outlier to this calendar method is “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” which celebrates its 20th anniversary with a separate theatrical release window from Aug. 10 – Sept. 29 (local listings vary).

To find screening times near you for the “Harry Potter” 2025 movie marathon, we recommend looking up your local Regal movie theater and navigating the calendar each day from Aug. 20 – Sept. 1. Alternatively, you can look up each individual film, but that may be more cumbersome.

For non-4DX screenings, Regal will charge $9.75 per ticket — or, $9 and three quarters, a nod to Platform 9 3/4 from the movies.

During 4DX movie screenings, audience members wear 3D glasses, the seats move along with the action of the film, and the auditorium emits multi-sensory effects like fog and rain. (You may get wet!)

If you need a refresher, here are all eight “Harry Potter” films in order:

  • “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” (2001)
  • “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” (2002)
  • “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” (2004)
  • “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” (2005)
  • “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” (2007)
  • “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” (2009)
  • “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” (2010)
  • “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” (2011)

‘Back to Hogwarts’

“Back to Hogwarts” is an annual celebration of the “Potter” brand commemorating the day the Hogwarts Express transports students back to school each year in the stories.

Back to Hogwarts 2024

In addition to the screenings of all the “Harry Potter” movies, this year’s “Back to Hogwarts” event will include a livestream on Sept. 1, 2025, at 5:40 a.m. ET on the Harry Potter YouTube channel.

It’s a big year for “Potter” fans. In May, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic opened at the new Universal Epic Universe theme park in Orlando, Fla., featuring the return of Imelda Staunton as Dolores Umbridge.

  1. You might consider a follow on article because Regal ABSOLUTELY boned up this promotion and you have a ton of pissed off fans. I, like many, went to the first day, first showing and ALL the collectibles were sold out even though I arrived 45 minutes early. Theaters were only sent 30 combos and they started sales two days prior to the start of the event. They even claimed on their website that collectibles would only be sold to ticket buyers. Regal lied.
