Is Jack the Clown coming to Fortnite? HHN icon fuels Fortnitemares speculation

Halloween Horror Nights icon Jack the Clown could be headed from the fog to Fortnite, after a series of social media posts sparked speculation that the character may be part of Fortnitemares 2026.

And if this one turns out to be true, it’s a perfect cherry on top of an epic 2026 Halloween season.

Jack the Clown was Halloween Horror Nights’ first original icon, introduced in 2000, and has become one of the most recognizable characters created for Universal’s annual Halloween event. James Keaton has embodied Jack since the character’s earliest days.

There’s a personal reason this particular rumor caught my attention, too. My first Halloween Horror Nights was in 2015, when Jack returned to headline the event’s 25th anniversary. Ten years later, I watched Fortnite arrive at Halloween Horror Nights as a physical experience.

Jack’s Halloween Horror Nights history is dark. His character is murderous and a leader of mayhem. His story is closely connected to Dr. Oddfellow, as the two engage in a deadly battle for supremacy over the sinister carnival mythology that has developed across multiple years of the event.

Now, in 2026, Fortnitemares has taken over part of Universal Studios Florida with its own scare zone while Jack is back at the center of HHN 35, and a Fortnitemares zone at Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights.

Why fans think Jack the Clown is coming to Fortnite

Fortnite teased the return of Fortnitemares with the message, “Nitemares really do come true,” and an Oct. 1 date. Keaton reposted the teaser. Michael Aiello, Universal’s senior director of Entertainment Creative Development and one of the creative figures closely associated with Jack’s history, reposted it as well.

Prominent Fortnite accounts noticed the activity, and the possibility of Jack appearing in the game accelerated into a larger conversation.

How Fortnite usually handles its Halloween collaborations

Fortnitemares is Fortnite’s annual Halloween event, typically bringing seasonal changes to the game alongside new quests, weapons, cosmetics and collaborations with recognizable horror and entertainment properties.

Those collaborations can take several forms. Characters may arrive as purchasable outfits and cosmetic bundles in the Item Shop, while larger partnerships can extend into gameplay, themed locations, quests or limited-time experiences. Previous Fortnitemares events have incorporated properties including “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre,” “Saw,” “Halloween” and “Friday the 13th.”

Jack could appear as an individual character skin or cosmetic bundle, or Universal’s involvement could potentially extend further.

Would Jack the Clown fit in Fortnite?

Jack the Clown seems like a fit for modern-day Fortnite. The game has increasingly become a home for horror characters during Fortnitemares, with their more graphic source material adapted to Fortnite’s content standards.

Jack’s recognizable green hair, greasepaint, clown costume and carnival aesthetic could translate particularly easily into a Fortnite outfit without incorporating the bloodier elements of his Halloween Horror Nights appearances.

For now, Fortnite has not announced what, if anything, Jack or Halloween Horror Nights will contribute to Fortnitemares 2026.
