Why SeaWorld Spooktacular is one of the best ways to trick-or-treat in Orlando

I’ve been taking my son to SeaWorld Orlando’s Halloween Spooktacular to trick-or-treat nearly every year since he was a baby. After all those visits, there’s a reason we keep coming back: It is one of the easiest ways for families with younger kids to celebrate Halloween at an Orlando theme park.

SeaWorld Spooktacular is a daytime Halloween event, so there are no late nights required. It is also included with regular SeaWorld Orlando admission on event dates, which means families don’t need to purchase another event ticket just to participate. For 2026, Spooktacular runs on select dates from Aug. 29-Nov. 1. For these reasons, and more, it is among one of the better values for Halloween events in Orlando.

Why we keep coming back to SeaWorld Spooktacular

The biggest appeal for us is the way the trick-or-treating is set up. Instead of spending the day crisscrossing a huge theme park in search of candy stations, much of the Halloween fun feels like walking through a neighborhood.

There are decorated trails, pumpkins, friendly characters and trick-or-treat stations clustered through the Spooktacular areas. We can make our way through at our own pace, stopping to see animals or explore something else at SeaWorld along the way. There’s no pressure to accomplish an entire park’s worth of Halloween activities before bedtime.

And there is plenty to look at even when we aren’t collecting candy. The Halloween section is decorated throughout, including the Peek-a-Boo Cemetery full of silly puns. Activities include the Pumpkin Garden and Storytime, Spooky Bubble Trail, Halloween Storytime with Big Bird, Sesame Street Halloween Parade and character experiences.

Near the Journey to Atlantis attraction is the Peek-a-Boo maze. It’s small and easy for kids to navigate, and it is one of my son’s favorite features. It’s great to have a small area for kids to explore without lines or crowds.

One thing to know before you trick-or-treat

Although Spooktacular itself is included with admission, a SeaWorld reusable trick-or-treat bag is required to collect candy. Usually, the bags are priced at $3.99 plus tax.

Parents can participate in the trick-or-treat trail, too, although the experience definitely feels designed with children in mind. That is part of its charm. Spooktacular is bright, colorful and intentionally kid-friendly. SeaWorld describes it as a daytime event created specifically for families.

SeaWorld Orlando offers a Teal Pumpkin Program for guests with food allergies. Instead of candy, guests can collect teal tokens at the trick-or-treat stations and exchange them for allergy-friendly items, usually trinkets, at Coconut Bay Traders.

Two ways to experience “Hotel Transylvania”

“Hotel Transylvania” joins Spooktacular for the first time in 2026, and there are two main ways to spend time with Drac and his monster crew. During the regular daytime event, guests can meet Drac, Mavis and friends and catch the Monster Movez Dance Party in Journey to Atlantis Plaza, all included with park admission.

For a bigger experience, the separately priced Hotel Transylvania Monster Breakfast takes over SeaFire Inn on Spooktacular mornings. The character meal includes an all-you-care-to-enjoy breakfast buffet, meet-and-greets with Drac, Mavis and other characters, dancing and interactive entertainment. Prices currently start at $35.99 for adults and $20.99 for children ages 3-9, with park admission also required.

An easy Halloween tradition for younger kids

After years of visiting, that ease is probably what I appreciate most about SeaWorld Spooktacular. We can arrive during the day, grab our candy bag, wander the trails and enjoy Halloween without turning the outing into an endurance test.

For families who want costumes, candy and plenty of Halloween atmosphere but don’t necessarily want a late-night party, Spooktacular hits a particularly sweet spot.
