Fans can watch ‘Star Wars’ in movie theaters on May the 4th
This past April, “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith” celebrated its 20th anniversary by returning to theaters for new fans, and nostalgic fans all over. Come 2027, the movie that started it all will grace our movie screens once more.
The limited-time release of the original “Star Wars” in movie theaters will begin April 30, 2027, and continue through May the 4th, which has become the official Star Wars Day, as a nod to “May the Force Be With You.”

Star Wars is a franchise like no other. “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope” originally released in movie theaters on May 25, 1977. At the time, the movie title was simply “Star Wars.” This movie launched almost five decades (and counting) of movies, shows, toys, novels, comic books, video games, theme park attractions, and more. Many fans were not even alive in 1977 to enjoy its first theatrical run. Now they will get to enjoy that experience come 2027.
This will be part of the Lucasfilm’s yearlong 50th anniversary celebration. So stay tuned to StarWars.com for more information, as well as when and where to purchase your tickets.
