Space Shuttle Orbiter Discovery now on display at the Smithsonian
Several weeks ago the Space Shuttle Orbiter Discovery left the Kennedy Space Center on its final flight. It was carried onboard a 747, and was flown to the Dulles Airport outside Washington DC. Discovery was quickly added to the Smithsonian collection, at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.

Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts starting to take shape
Much of the structural steel for the entrance of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts is now up. The Center will be home to Orlando’s finest theaters.

Demolition of the Amway Arena nearly complete
Not much remains of the former Amway Arena in downtown Orlando. The site is being prepared for development of Creative Village Orlando, adjacent the University of Central Florida’s Center for Emerging Media.

Orlando becomes first U.S. destination to top 55 million visitors
It was another record-breaking year for Orlando with final 2011 visitation numbers revealing that Orlando welcomed 55.1 million visitors, up 7.2 percent from last year’s record setting 51.4 million.

Disney Wonder to offer special Pixar cruises this fall
A new cast of characters will stroll the decks and visit with guests aboard the Disney Wonder as Mr. Incredible, Remy, Woody, Jessie, Buzz Lightyear and other characters from Pixar Animation Studios’ films make their shipboard debut during four special Pixar-inspired seven-night California Coastal cruises Sept. 16 through Oct. 14, 2012.
