Busch Gardens launched the 2010 version of Howl-O-Scream this past weekend. The event continues on select nights up to Halloween. We didn’t make it through all the haunted houses yet, but we were able to catch the scare zones and two of the shows. Here’s a look at the fun:
Even though he put on a brave face and said he wouldn’t be scared, Orlando Attractions Magazine staff member Jimmy Strater didn’t know what he was in for. Again this Halloween season Busch Gardens offered to strap the ScreamCam onto one of us for a trip through a new haunted house.
Amidst the latest round of rumors about the new attraction Busch Gardens is building for 2011, they’ve launched the next chapter. A teaser campaign that began early this summer now has fans searching for code words to unlock more information. This latest peek pretty much confirms the attraction will be a roller coaster.
I took the hour drive from Orlando to Tampa Bay on Saturday to see the KaTonga show before it ended (more on that later). But I was surprised to see how much of their PG-13 Halloween event, Howl-O-Scream, looked ready to go.

After a six-year run of more than 10,000 shows, the curtain is closing on KaTonga: Musical Tales from the Jungle at Busch Gardens. KaTonga’s last performance in the Moroccan Palace Theater will be Sept. 6. KaTonga is making way for a new show for the park, Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy, which will debut this winter.
The musical group Survivor will be live in concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, in Gwazi Park at Busch Gardens. Survivor is best known for ‘80s hits including the Rocky theme, Eye of the Tiger, as well as High on You and The Search is Over. The concert is free to all park guests.
Busch Gardens officially kicks off it’s 11th season of scares with more haunted houses than ever before, all new scare zones, a new idea in how to experience a haunted house and live concerts each night by the rock stars of horror – Sylvie and her killer band, My X.
It’s your last chance to see all of the special summer shows, rides and events at SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the Magic Kingdom as they are all ending this weekend.
