Five Six Flags parks land on list of America’s most ‘overrated’ attractions

The United States has a plethora of attractions, from the Hollywood Walk of Fame in California to the National WWI Museum and Memorial, and many, many theme parks.

While thrills, personal appeal, nostalgia and so many other factors all play into individual opinion, Stasher, a luggage storage company, has conducted a study to rank the ten most overrated attractions in the United States.

It’s become common for companies like Stasher, gaming apps, and others to put together ranking lists as a way of getting their name out to broader audiences. Not every such list is deemed relevant for our audience, but in this case our editor felt it prudent to look closer at these overrated attractions.

Furthermore, it is compelling to note that five of the attractions on the list are Six Flags parks, and part of this could be attributed not just to the quality of the experience but the sheer number of Six Flags parks in the United States.

The study

Stasher studied 665 preselected U.S. attractions’ Tripadvisor reviews. All attractions had a minimum of 200 reviews. The company also measured their online popularity based on English-language Wikipedia views, TikTok post totals and Instagram post totals.

Each attraction received a popularity index out of 100 possible points, with a higher score indicating more attention across the online platforms measured.

Stasher arrived at the overrated rankings based on “online popularity in the national top quarter and a Tripadvisor rating below 4.0/5.” The company then adjusted visitor ratings for review volume and compared each attraction’s adjusted rating with its online popularity score.

According to Stasher’s study, these are the most overrated attractions

• No. 1: Hollywood Walk of Fame — California
• No. 2: Six Flags Great Adventure — New Jersey
• No. 3: Plymouth Rock — Pilgrim Memorial State Park — Massachusetts
• No. 4: Six Flags Great America — Illinois
• No. 5: Six Flags Over Georgia — Georgia
• No. 6: Alamodome — Texas
• No. 7: Legoland Florida Resort — Florida
• No. 8: Six Flags Fiesta Texas — Texas
• No. 9: Six Flags New England — Massachusetts
• No. 10: American Dream — New Jersey

Stasher noted that its online popularity measurement does not represent attendance, visitor expectations or whether guests regretted visiting. The study also did not analyze individual reviews to determine the reasons behind the ratings.

Some of the top overrated attractions in the U.S.

While the Hollywood Walk of Fame takes the cake at spot number one, a whopping five Six Flags properties made the total list of ten. This is not the first time Stasher has placed the Hollywood Walk of Fame at the bottom of an attractions ranking. The company also named it the world’s worst tourist attraction in previous global studies.

However, none of the company’s previous global top 10s reviewed by Attractions Magazine included as many Six Flags parks as this latest U.S. ranking. With Six Flags properties making up half of this list, we will dive in closer in a moment.

Legoland Florida Resort also finds itself on the overrated list at spot number seven, while the other U.S. Legoland Resort properties, including Legoland California Resort and Legoland New York Resort, did not make the top ten.

Right now, Legoland Florida’s Brick or Treat event is under way, and our editor considers it to be one of the best values for Halloween events in Orlando.

Five Six Flags parks make the top 10

The Hollywood Walk of Fame ranked first, followed by Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey at No. 2.

Four additional Six Flags parks appeared in the top ten:

• Six Flags Great America at No. 4
• Six Flags Over Georgia at No. 5
• Six Flags Fiesta Texas at No. 8
• Six Flags New England at No. 9

The five parks held Tripadvisor ratings ranging from 3.5 to 3.8 out of 5 when Stasher collected its data in September 2026.

New attractions are coming to Six Flags

Several of the Six Flags parks included in Stasher’s ranking already have major additions planned. Six Flags Great Adventure will open Bakunawa in 2027, billed as the world’s tallest and fastest spinning launch coaster.

Six Flags Great America has Camp Timber Trail, an expanded family-focused area of the park, on the way for 2027.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas will add Werewolf Gorge in 2027. Billed as the world’s longest family launch coaster, the 4,120-foot ride will feature four launches, 32 airtime moments and speeds up to 45 mph.

Six Flags New England has already introduced Quantum Accelerator, its first dual-launch straddle coaster, while Six Flags Over Georgia expects to reopen Georgia Gold Rusher in 2027 following vehicle enhancements intended to improve its performance and availability.
