Roundup Rodeo BBQ construction speeds ahead towards opening
With less than six weeks to go until the opening of Roundup Rodeo BBQ construction is well underway, and we spotted builders hard at work during operating hours at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This new restaurant opens Mar. 23, 2023, so there isn’t a second to spare before family-style food is served.
Disney usually likes to hide its construction projects, but when last-minute work is needed, it must be done. We spotted this work happening at 2:15 p.m. (well into the operating day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios), which showed some exposed wiring, construction equipment, and soldering.
In our December construction article update, we mentioned that once construction efforts get to a size like this, you can’t really hide it anymore.
Roundup Rodeo BBQ construction has been happening for many years, so it’s nice to see this restaurant reaching completion. Once open, this restaurant will serve BBQ, vegan items, and specialty desserts, plus signature adult and kid-friendly drinks. It will also be the first air-conditioned eatery in Toy Story Land, a section of the park that definitely needs more AC.
I always appreciate the extra effort in Toy Story Land (and all themed lands) to sell the illusion. We know this isn’t really a space made of over-sized toys, but you can’t help but let yourself believe it for a bit. This is a rare view of the efforts done to sell that story. What is wire, plastic, steel, and paint can also become Andy’s Backyard, a galaxy far, far away, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter or Pandora The World of Avatar.
For now, Roundup Rodeo BBQ construction continues, but soon, you will be able to enjoy cheddar biscuits, beef brisket, “Impossible” rib chops, apple pie, and other BBQ-inspired items. Stay tuned to Attractions Magazine for updates on when you can grab a reservation for this eatery.
The Roundup Rodeo Barbecue sounds like it will be a wonderful addition to the eating scene. It’s always exciting to see new eateries starting up. I’m eager to sample their Barbeque and take in the atmosphere inspired by the rodeo.
