El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure

Guests at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township, N.J., can experience improvements on El Toro, a wooden roller coaster at the park. During the off-season, workers are busy replacing portions of the track.

“After nearly 20 years of thrilling guests, the wooden coaster is undergoing carefully targeted improvements,” Six Flags said in a statement, “designed to create a smoother, more comfortable ride experience while preserving the speed, intensity, and character that fans know and love.”

Six Flags shared photos of maintenance crews hard at work on El Toro.

Six Flags Great Adventure reopens for the season on March 28, 2026.

Mr. Freeze at Six Flags Over Texas

Mr. Freeze, a roller coaster themed to a Batman villain, will upgrade its queue and load station this year with new theming and special effects at Six Flags Over Texas near Dallas.

The changes at Mr. Freeze aren’t the only new additions at Six Flags Over Texas this year. The park will also open Tormenta Rampaging Run, a dive coaster breaking six world records.

Six Flags Over Texas reopens for the season on Feb. 28, 2026. The park has not announced specific opening dates for the Mr. Freeze theming or Tormenta Rampaging Run other than “2026.”

More changes across Six Flags’ corporate portfolio

The news of El Toro and Mr. Freeze changes follow many wide-ranging announcements for Six Flags as a corporation recently. They come on the heels of a complete restructure of the corporation’s season passes, a new policy for riders filming on roller coasters, a revised structure for passholder rewards, and an announcement of a Six Flags online gaming hub. These all come shortly following the December 2025 appointment of John Reilly as Six Flags’ new CEO.
