This year’s Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) will feature a “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” haunted house at Universal Studios Florida and Universal Studios Hollywood, both parks announced today. The signature haunt event returns to Florida on select nights from Aug. 30 – Nov. 3, 2024 and to California on select nights from Sept. 5 – Nov. 3, 2024.

Universal teased the backstory of the “Frozen Empire” haunted house on social media by saying, “An ancient artifact has released a chilling new entity, Garraka. Try not to freeze in fear as he freezes people before your eyes. Only the Ghostbusters can stop you from getting iced.”

The “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” film, which debuted in theaters earlier this year (check out our reporter Connor’s review!), is a sequel to 2021’s “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” itself a legacy sequel to the original “Ghostbusters” films from the ’80s.

The news of “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” follows the previous announcements of HHN’s other haunted houses:

Two houses remains to be announced in Florida; four in California.

“Ghostbusters” History at Universal Studios

The “Ghostbusters” franchise is no stranger to Universal theme parks, despite the films being released by Sony, not Universal. The “Ghostbusters Spooktacular” show performed from 1990-1996 at Universal Studios Florida in the space now occupied by Race Through New York starring Jimmy Fallon.

The original “Ghostbusters” was also the inspiration for a haunted house in both Florida and California at HHN 2019.

This summer, “Ghostbusters” is a prominent part of new live entertainment at Universal Studios Florida, including the “CineSational: A Symphonic Spectacular” drone show and the upcoming “Universal Mega Movie Parade.”

Halloween Horror Nights tickets are now on sale for both versions of the event.
