New Orlando theme park attractions: What’s coming in 2027
Orlando’s theme parks are gearing up for 2027, with new rides, shows, and experiences on the horizon. Here’s a look at what’s officially announced, where you’ll find it, and when it’s expected to open.

The new Orlando attractions 2027 lineup is shaping up to be one of the biggest the city’s seen in years, except when an entirely new theme park opens, of course!
From Disney’s ‘Tropical Americas’ and ‘Monstropolis’ to Universal’s ‘Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift,’ here’s what’s officially on the way in 2027.
What new is arriving in 2027 at Orlando area theme parks
Orlando’s 2027 calendar is stacked with new lands, rides, and a brand-new resort hotel, but the fine print matters. Below is everything with an official 2027 window, what is confirmed, how thrilling or family-friendly it looks, and where fans should be careful about assumptions.
Details are in each section.
New Orlando attractions 2027: Walt Disney World
Two reality checks first. The yet-named Monsters, Inc. door coaster is not part of Monstropolis’ 2027 opening, and Disney removed the year 2027 from its Walt Disney World “Coming to the Parks” page for Tropical Americas in September, even though other official material still says 2027.
Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Confirmed: Disney said at D23 on August 16 that parts of Monstropolis will open to guests in 2027 while work continues on the door coaster. The opening lineup includes “Welcome to Monstropolis” at the Glob Theater (hosted by Mike and Sulley, with an original Randy Newman song), Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza, the Monsters University Alumni Club, the Scareporium shop, and Harryhausen’s Restaurant with an Audio-Animatronic sushi chef.
The door coaster: Disney’s first suspended coaster is still under construction and will open at a later date, with no year announced. As we reported in our construction coverage, riders board on the laugh floor and are lifted 40 feet in four seconds before entering the door vault. For a closer look at the restaurant, see our Harryhausen’s coverage.
Window: 2027, phased, no exact date.
Thrill and access: the show, dining, and shop should suit all ages. Walt Disney World has not announced a height requirement for the coaster, but a suspended coaster (when it opens) with a vertical lift will be a thrill ride.
Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Confirmed: The attraction replaces DINOSAUR, which closed in February 2026, with a new story set at a Maya temple. It is part of Tropical Americas, the 11-acre land of Pueblo Esperanza. Walt Disney World has stated that this theme park land and its attractions will open in 2027. At D23, Disney named the ride and revealed a giant Audio-Animatronics figure of the Tsukán, the jade serpent of Maya legend, for the finale.

Window: Officially 2027, with no month or date.

Thrill and access: no height requirement has been announced.

Confirmed: The first Encanto ride at a Disney park, built new inside the Madrigal Casita. Walt Disney World describes guests celebrating Antonio’s gift of talking to animals.
Thrill and access: Walt Disney World revealed the attraction will be for all ages with no height requirement.
The rest of Pueblo Esperanza
Tropical Americas offers more for guests when it opens. The land also includes El Carrusel de los Animalitos, a handcrafted carousel with wooden animal figures inspired by Disney and Pixar films, a central fountain, and a large hacienda-style quick-service restaurant taking over the former Restaurantosaurus site. Guests should expect 22 hand-carved creatures on the carousel.
Also confirmed: Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom
The Carousel of Progress closed July 6, 2026, for a rebuild, and Disney said at D23 that it will reopen in late spring 2027 with four new decades and Florida’s first Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic figure. The overhaul replaces every scene.
Expect the same gentle, family-friendly rotating theater format with some new voices like Brian Cranston and Jamie Lee Curtis.

New Orlando attractions 2027: Universal Studios Florida
Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift
Confirmed: Universal announced on January 20 that the outdoor coaster will open in 2027, replacing Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, which closed in August 2025. Riders get 360-degree drifting and a 170-foot vertical “spike” that sends them nearly 17 stories above the edge of Universal CityWalk Orlando.
Fast & Furious: Supercharged, the previous motion simulator ride, permanently closed earlier this year. So, Universal Studios Florida loses one franchise attraction as it gains another. Our Universal Studios Florida announcement coverage has the full breakdown.

Window: 2027, with no date. A separate Universal Studios Hollywood version of the ride opened to the public on September 16. However, the Florida coaster follows its own timeline and has a different design, so the California specs don’t apply to the Orlando attraction.
Thrill and access: this is expected to be a high-intensity coaster. Universal has not announced a height requirement.
New resort: Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge
Confirmed: Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge opens July 1, 2027, on the former River Country site along Bay Lake, with 967 rooms ranging from duo studios to three-bedroom grand villas that sleep up to 12. One- and two-bedroom Lake Houses sleep five or eight.

What guests get: Three restaurants (Moonglade, Bay Lake Provisions, and Paint Out Point Bar & Grill), the Branch & Brush and Dandelion Terrace lounges with views of Magic Kingdom fireworks, and a boat to Magic Kingdom.
The Wetlands recreation area includes Lakeshore Lagoon, a zero-entry pool with a spiral waterslide, the Daydream River lazy river, and wet and dry play areas called Heron Shores and Otter Springs.

Also, SeaWorld Orlando’s SEAQuest: Legends of the Deep is still officially a 2026 project, so we aren’t counting it here. However, we still do not have an official opening date for that new Orlando-area attraction with little time left before 2027.

Attractions Magazine has reached out to SeaWorld Orlando for clarification on SeaQuest’s opening timeline and whether the attraction is expected to debut in 2027. We’ll update this article when we receive a response.
