Your last view of Space Shuttle Atlantis until next summer, plus other changes at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex
Last week, the space shuttle orbiter Atlantis was officially turned over to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, with a fireworks finale. Atlantis was then able to be viewed inside the new gallery building for one week only. The building will now be sealed, and the adjacent displays completed. Photos and videos from The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights
The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has become a Christmastime tradition in Central Florida. The lights debuted at the Studios on Nov. 24, 1995, but they weren’t dancing to the music until 2006.
From 1995 to 2003, the spectacle lit up Residential Street, part of the Studio Backlot Tour. In 2004, the lights moved to their current home on the Streets of America. The display uses 10 miles of twinkling rope lights.
The display started in Little Rock, Ark., at the home of Jennings Osborne. Disney offered to display the lights at Disney World after Osborne’s neighbors started complaining about the bright lights and extra traffic. Osborne and his family now visit the display at Hollywood Studios after Christmas each year. The Osbornes also sponsor light displays in 32 cities in Arkansas. This Mickey can only be seen as a reflection in the window.
They’ve added these signs this year giving facts about the display.

Notice that Disney’s new Christmas special, “Prep & Landing” is playing on the television.
The stockings hung above the fire have the names Jennings, Mitzi and Breezy – the Osborne family members.
